There are many reasons why you should give to your local community foundation. During this giving season, we are looking at the top 6:

1. The groups that the Laurens County Community Foundation (LCCF) funds do amazing, life-changing work

Every single day we see and hear stories of how the money we give is spent for the good of Laurens County. Whether it’s a project to build job skills like the Sweet Shop at the Laurens County Disabilities and Special Needs Board, supporting the Laurens County Cancer Association’s gas card program, buying a 3D printer for the middle school or feeding children through community backpack programs, we have funded some amazing organizations who are at the forefront of tackling some of the most pressing issues our county.

2. LCCF is local, you can give where you live

Sometimes you need to see it to believe it. When you donate to your local community foundation, you’ll be able to see with your own eyes the tangible difference that your money makes on the community where you live and work. Home is where the heart is. It doesn’t matter where you are in the world you can always connect with the place that feels like home by supporting the amazing groups who try to improve it. We work, are located, and are focused on Laurens County.

3. We do the heavy-lifting and we are here to stay

If you want to get all the enjoyment of giving but don’t want to get stuck in a legal quagmire of compliance, tax regulation and the like, then giving through your local community foundation is the right path for you to take. LCCF submits voluntarily to an external auditor who provides an independent assessment of our financial statements, management and controls. Our financial model means that we are here for the long-term to serve and enrich the lives in our county in perpetuity. We also support non-profits and community groups to be more sustainable.

4. We’re all about the evidence

LCCF works hard to identify the issues that need to be funded and do our due diligence on the projects we fund. Our grant program is competitive, and we work hard to make sure the funding is in the best hands to make the biggest impact. You’ll be able to rest assured that your money will be tackling the most prevalent problems in our community and funding the groups we know can make a difference on the ground.
